Shame on us for accepting a sick tax on the sick

Some years ago my father past away in Waterford hospital and I spent a lot of time visiting him at €3 a time parking fee.

I thought at the time how disgusting that charge was, profiting for others people misery and suffering, taxing the sick and the people who try to comfort them.

But I had more important things on my mind at that time. I recently had to bring my son to Cork hospital as his treatment was not available in Waterford and I had to pay €10.50 parking fee - and had I been any longer I would have had to pay €15.50. This is tax on the sick people and tax on people who help them and comfort them.

These are public hospitals owned by us, the public.

Shame on those who came up with idea. Shame on those who implemented it. And most of all shame on us for accepting.
