Why care at all?

I CANNOT believe the rubbish I am reading about pensioners contributing for care. Most would have contributed throughout their working life and are entitled to be looked after by the State.

In response to Sheila Griffin’s moaning (Irish Examiner letters, August 22), I say we apply the same logic to all sectors of society... scrap children’s allowance, scrap the medical cards, scrap heating allowances, scrap the dole and scrap unmarried mothers’ allowance.

This would greatly reduce the chances of reaching old age anyway.

In fact, let’s introduce euthanasia and abortion altogether and be done with it.
