THE eagerness to help deprived nations is typical of our own hypocrisy. There are plenty of worthy causes and hungry people in Ireland, so let’s get our own house in order first before we rush to the aid of strangers.

I’M delighted to see that our elected representatives can break tax laws, pay massive sums to the Criminal Assets Bureau, and we still give them €80,000 yearly pensions.
