Why reward the players but not the officials?

I HOPE someone who is interested in GAA affairs can answer some or all of the following questions:

Why reward the players but not the officials?

1. If the young men who play hurling for Cork do not enjoy doing so, why do they play?

2. If they do enjoy it, why should they be rewarded for enjoying themselves by the provision of foreign holidays?

3. If they enjoy playing hurling for Cork, why should they not be expected to make sacrifices for their own enjoyment? Goodness knows, many working class people have made tremendous sacrifices to provide playing facilities for them.

4. Why should clubs pay levies to county boards so that the they can give the county players rewards which the clubs cannot afford to give their own players?

5. There is no scarcity of men willing to play for the county team. There is a very big scarcity of men willing to accept office in clubs. This being so, why are county players being rewarded from GAA funds while club officials are not? Has the GAA not heard of the principles of supply and demand?

6. By what authority do county boards impose levies on clubs over and above those required by the GAA official guide? The rule book indicates that my club should have paid total levies of £264 last year. We paid £2,345. The additional levies were needed to finance the county teams.

7. If county boards could not impose levies on clubs in order to finance the maintenance of county teams, would they be so willing to cave in to the demand of the pampered brats who play for their county teams?

8. What benefit does a county derive from having a county team other than incurring massive expenditure, with club competitions left in a shambles and hard-working, unrewarded county officials slandered by the county players and libelled by the bullyboys of the media?
