Education roadshow a waste of money
Kids want to have fun and not go to school at all why does the minister need to spend hundreds of thousands of euro to find that out?
He is asking them how they think they should be taught. How would a person who is not a qualified educator be capable of answering this? Does everyone who went to school know how to teach? I had an operation on my knee 15 months ago; that does not mean I know how a surgeon's job should be done.
The minister is also asking "all Irish people" how schoolchildren's learning should be assessed; ask any pupil in any school if they should have to sit exams and, of course, they will say "No".
Why is Mr Dempsey wasting money on this exercise? Countless OECD reports, ESRI and CSO reports prove the Irish education system, our teachers and parental involvement are the best in the world. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Will he tell people his real intention is to scrap the trusted Junior and Leaving Certificate exams, just to save money?
