Funeral details announced for beloved mother-of-three who died at Limerick site

Funeral details have been announced for a Limerick mother who was killed when a septic tank trench collapsed on her.

Elizabeth (Liz) Lynch, the beloved mother of three young boys, was at a construction site for a house in Kilmeedy, Co Limerick, on September 18 when she died.

Despite the efforts of others at the site to save her, Ms Lynch was pronounced dead at the scene.

Of Woodfield Manor, Newcastle West and Kilmurry, Feenagh, Ms Lynch will repose at her parents' home for three days to allow people to pay their respects.

Her requiem mass will take place at St Ita's Church, Feenagh at 12.30pm on Saturday, followed by burial in Feenagh Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the Lynch family have requested for donations to be made to charities. 

A garda spokesperson said gardaí attended the "fatal workplace incident at a premises in Kilmeedy, Co Limerick” and referred the case to the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) for further investigation.

Following her passing, tributes have poured in for Ms Lynch, an accomplished footballer and coach who had a "heart of gold". 

"Words cannot express how devastated we are to hear of Liz's passing. A dear friend through the years. 

"A helping hand, a kind ear, a loving smile for all that knew her. She was one in a million. 

"Our deepest sympathy to Kauan, Jaycob and Victor, her father Tim, mother Betty, sister Mary, brother Michael and the extended Lynch families. RIP," a friend wrote in tribute.

Football and soccer clubs Ms Lynch had been involved with also paid tribute to her, describing her as a "beautiful, kind" person with a "vibrant personality" and "a genuine, good, kind, friendly person with a great sense of humour".
