Situation must improve for the old and those with disabilities

We contacted all the special schools in Waterford City and county and spoke to their principals, who all agreed that services were practically non-existent. All the principals stated that they have not had the services of a speech therapist for over a year; this is in schools where children are in need of speech therapy for their social and educational development.

Other services such as social workers are also lacking. A few of the principals stated that if they have an emergency in the school and they need to make contact with a social worker, it can be very difficult as they only get an answering machine and no-one ever calls back.
