MY father is a resident in a mid-west nursing home.

On visiting him the day after the Prime Time programme he was visibly down, not because of the content of the programme, which is foreign to him in his nursing home, but because of the effect the programme has had on the staff that care for him.

He said the carers in his home are visibly upset at the media coverage which gives the impression that all nursing homes are the same as Leas Cross, and all carers and nursing home owners are abusers.
