What’s so wrong with a singular view of what it means to be Irish?

I READ with a certain nausea the article headlined “Study: Post-primary system ‘institutionally racist’ ” (Irish Examiner, September 1).

What’s so wrong with a singular view of what it means to be Irish?

According to the findings of 'a study,' it goes on to state there is "a limited view of Irish identity in the curriculum." I ask, is it racist to have a singular national conception of Irishness? Secondly, the study states there is a "predominantly Christian influence in the schools." Given that this is a predominantly Christian country, where is the racism in that?

Finally, this piece of unsophisticated propaganda that passes itself off as a study says there is a "lack of support for the mother tongue of (presumably non-English-speaking) students."
