Bike parts company to close

SRAM IRELAND, a bicycle components manufacturer, has announced it will be closing down its operations in Carrick-on-Suir, Co Tipperary over the coming weeks and months.

The company has operated a factory in the town for the last 11 years. Some 53 jobs will be lost as a result of the decision, which was attributed to competitive pressures from overseas.
