Pope refused to meet clerical abuse victims
As Mr Geaney pointed out the document “strictly reminded” bishops that the “Pontifical secret” required both the bishops and the victims of clerical abuses to maintain the “strictest secrecy” or suffer the penalty of excommunication from the church.
On the very day of his election, Pope Benedict XVI showed by his example his own determination to uphold the “Pontifical secret” by his refusal to meet with a number of victims of clerical sex abuse crimes.
