City bus service now operating smoothly

I WRITE in response to Clare O’Regan’s letter of complaint (Irish Examiner, December 12) about the 8A bus service in Cork city.

City bus service now operating smoothly

As she correctly pointed out, a new timetable was introduced on the route on November 21.

I would like to reassure Ms O’Regan and other customers that while some temporary operational difficulties were experienced with the introduction of the new timetable, these have now been resolved and the service is operating smoothly.

Furthermore, with the introduction of the new timetable there has been a significant improvement to the level of service on the No 8A route.

Sunday services have more than doubled from three to seven; there are now eight Saturday services, and there are two extra weekday services, bringing to 11 the number of daily services.

The frequency of the service has improved and the creation of a ‘green route’ on the corridor has shortened journey times and enhanced the reliability of the service.
