Two promises that voters won’t forget
These projects are critical for the success of the Cork World City of Culture 2005 and have been planned for some considerable time.
They have also been the subjects of political promise, and those promises must now be honoured. If the problem is a shortage of capital, that can easily be resolved by the sale of some of the 28 locations now occupied by the Defence Forces.
To be ready in time, these two projects must start immediately.
If they are not ready, all the Cork city and county TDs, senators and councillors of the Government parties will have good reason to dread the next election as Cork voters have long memories.
