Manipulation of the McCartneys
In between her cute little quips about erectile dysfunction and green top hats, she seems to have overlooked the primary reason why the McCartney sisters' campaign has not made a greater impact on headlines in the US.
The story failed to make major headlines here because, among other reasons, Americans, Irish or otherwise, are not as stupid as she thinks.
We can spot a red herring 2,000 miles away, top hat or not.
Americans cognisant of Irish politics are perfectly aware of the mudslinging, anti-republican media frenzy that precedes every election on the island.
This year is obviously no different, with Sinn Féin being blamed for everything short of the crucifixion of Christ. Anti-republican rhetoric is not headline-worthy news in the US. It is an old, broken record with which we are quite familiar.
Americans are keenly aware of the way in which the McCartney sisters' gallant and admirable campaign for justice is being manipulated by certain political elements into a deplorable partisan side-show that ultimately has less to do with achieving justice for the McCartneys than it has attempting to discredit Sinn Féin prior to an election.
We are not satisfied with the languid nature of the PSNI's investigation into the McCartney killing, and we are growing a little tired on this side of the pond of seeing McCartney supporters publicly kick in the teeth on a daily basis those working the most diligently to assist the family in their search for justice.
Americans strongly support the McCartney sisters and Ms Hagan in their noble campaign, but we do not support the misuse of that campaign as a political football by any government including our own.
If justice is to be served, then the PSNI must stop building their own 'wall of silence' by turning away key witnesses and suspects who have vital evidence essential to the McCartney case.
It would behove media pundits on both sides of the Atlantic to turn their attention to the political agenda behind the negligence of a police force that appears intent, for political purposes, on deliberately dragging the current situation out through the May elections in Britain.
