No cash for some but plenty for others

YOUR editorial dealing with “Patients the victims of cutbacks” (Irish Examiner, May 7) certainly highlighted the appalling situation of our health system.

Lack of finance is apparently the main reason. The irony is that a Government that is now so strapped for cash freely spent OUR money on the Bertie Bowl with nothing to show for it.

The taxpayers' outlay to date:

Cost of relocating the State laboratories from Abbotstown €250m.

Grants for the development of Croke Park €63m.

Grants to the FAI over 10 years €130m.

Consultancy and other costs (estimate) €10m.

Total bill €453m!

Wouldn't it make your blood boil?
