War is not the answer to terrorism
This threatened conflict exemplifies the willingness of some strong nations to attack the poor and the weak. Far more people are in danger of destruction in such a war then were killed in the Twin Towers of New York.
There are steps that could prevent terrorism other than resorting to large scale terror. Firstly, the reduction of hunger, want and great inequality in the world. Secondly, good intelligence and policing. Thirdly, international consultation and co-operation, free from any dominating power.
That two people of moderate intelligence, such as Bush and Blair, should plunge a whole region into war, without the full backing of their own people, is obscene. Ireland should not give passage either to Americans or any other terrorists.
