Aer Lingus fares don’t travel very well as you move south

YOUR readers may be interested to compare the Cork and Dublin prices for some of the highly publicised cheap Aer Lingus fares to European cities, and to consider the airline’s discriminatory pricing policies against Cork passengers.

Aer Lingus fares don’t travel very well as you move south

For example, fares quoted on the Aer Lingus website from Dublin to Manchester for mid-February, 2003, range from 12 to 26 outbound, and 12 to 49 inbound; equivalent fares from Cork to Manchester are 84 and 107, a difference of between 72 and 95.

These price differences exceed the single fares from Cork-Dublin, which are 53 each way.

Equivalent prices by British Airways direct flight Cork to Manchester are 34 outbound and 53 inbound.

On this evidence, Aer Lingus does not seem to see the need to extend its cheap fares, at least on the Manchester route, to Cork passengers.
