We’ve lost our souls in the race for prosperity

IN recent years we have heard a lot about the Celtic Tiger and the wonderful place that Ireland has become. What nonsense.

Apart from the one-in-five who are living in poverty, the vast majority of the rest are enslaved by the mighty euro. There is constant pressure and non-stop drudgery to feed the hungry ‘tiger’. But we are beginning to show the strain. Ireland has become a Godless, soulless place where our young people are drinking or doing drugs to help them forget their present and their future.

Our young men are committing suicide by the score; half the population have stress-related illnesses while the other half are living with the consequences. It’s high time that the financial institutions and our other monied taskmasters lifted their oppressive yolk, or were told by government to do so.
