Drastic action needed to end road carnage

FOLLOWING last weekend's surge in the horrific death toll on our roads, it's surely time to take drastic measures that would actually make a difference and put an end to the Government's complacency.
Drastic action needed to end road carnage

1. Nationwide speed cameras, privately operated or otherwise.

2. Compulsory speed inhibitors on all vehicles

3. Ramps and calming strips in all accident blackspot areas.

4. Reward system for reporting dangerous driving.

5. Recruitment of dedicated force, reserve or otherwise, from the military and/or civilian sector to police roads.

6. On-the-spot fines and/or disqualifications.

7. Compulsory school tuition on all aspects of driving and its dangers (not just in transition year).

8. Raise minimum car driving age from 17 to 20.

The Russian roulette syndrome faced by drivers is a scandal.
