Pregnancy agency’s funding policy challenged
She might kindly advise how the continued funding of the Irish Family Planning Association (IFPA) by the Crisis Pregnancy Agency contributes to the agency’s primary goal of the “reduction in the number of women with crisis pregnancy who opt for abortion.”
For years past, the Irish Family Planning Association has argued and lobbied for abortion.
In 2002, for instance, the IFPA spent a large sum of money campaigning for a No vote in the referendum on abortion on the grounds that the ‘right to abortion’ should not be restricted.
The IFPA is also a member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation, the world’s largest abortion provider.
Yet the Crisis Pregnancy Agency argues that the IFPA is a ‘bona fide’ counselling group and, somewhat incredibly, continues to support this organisation.
I await Ms Spillane’s response.
