SINCE it was British sabotage that ended the Stormont Assembly in 2002, the Taoiseach must push for its immediate resumption and for full implementation of the Good Friday Agreement, unless he too has abandoned the peace process.

The fact that the Troubles have not already returned to the streets of Northern Ireland is due mostly to the leadership and commitment of Sinn Féin and the IRA who have defied many attempts to push them over the edge. And they alone have fulfilled their obligations under the terms of the Good Friday agreement.

The charade of the past seven years is no longer in doubt. Its purpose was to keep Sinn Féin out of the Assembly.
