Maltese experience is different to Ireland’s

I MOSTLY agree with what Dáithí Mac Cárthaigh said (Irish Examiner, February 2). What I would like to point out is that in contrast to Ireland, all the Maltese people in Malta speak the language.

This is so that the Maltese language lives on.

In the three years that I have been coming to Ireland, I have not heard an Irish conversation between two or more persons; it has always been in English.
