Suggestions for future use of heritage centre
The county manager recently, in response to a notice of motion which I had tabled, indicated that the council was losing €50,000 per annum in trying to promote the centre and had decided that it was going to discontinue promoting it as a heritage centre.
The county manager also indicated that he would seek the views of the residents and community groups in Ballincollig in relation to future use of the centre itself. Council officials have undertaken to liaise with the various community groups to elicit suggestions and promotion ideas for what was a heritage centre which received an architectural prize when it was first built in Ballincollig.
The council would, therefore, welcome the views and suggestions of any voluntary group in Ballincollig or any residents who would like to put forward their suggestions either write to me or phone the office at 021-4871393.
