One medical issue Harney won’t tackle?
I thought I knew Mary Harney - you know, right-wing ideologue who would fashion herself on Margaret Thatcher?
Then she goes and becomes a Robin Hood, challenging the vested interests of doctors in defence of the poor over the medical cards issue.
We’ve seen this re-branding before - remember Bertie the socialist?
But hang on a moment. How far is Mary going to go in challenging vested interest? Is she, for instance, going to challenge the interests of dentists and the medical profession so that we can have a high quality health service, financed through general taxation (including tax levied on multinational companies such as Shell?), and free at the point of delivery?
I think not.
I suppose I will have to look elsewhere for somebody serious about social justice and democracy.
