In the last few days, more than 60 representatives from various voluntary and civic organisations met at Cork City Hall to discuss how the revolutionary period in Cork city and county might be marked over the coming years.

One of the suggestions was that a garden of commemoration be established to remember the 1,000 or so people killed in Cork city or county during that troubled period.
