Yesterday, Communications Minister Richard Bruton promised legislation to ensure children might be better protected online. Parents’ groups, teachers’ unions, medical and psychology experts and civic bodies insist on more robust protection. In Dublin yesterday, Julian King, the European commissioner for security, spoke of the need to secure the EU’s democratic systems against cyber attacks before May’s European elections.
