Questions remain over legal system

EVERY parent will empathise with Majella Holohan’s determined bid to raise hard questions in yesterday’s dramatic victim impact statement before sentence was passed on Wayne O’Donoghue for the manslaughter of her 11-year-old son Robert a year ago this month.

Doubtless, following the four-year sentence, the major question posed by Robert’s anguished mother was why semen was found on the boy’s body.

References to the discovery of semen have long been the subject of widespread speculation. Arguably, it could explain why the Director of Public Prosecutions charged the engineering student with murder.
