Mick Clifford: Quick, an election is coming, let's rush through legislation 

The Government needs some wins in the area of immigration and housing, hence the haste to get laws onto the books before the upcoming election

There is the suspicion that  ushed-through legislation in Leinster House was informed by a political imperative by the government to have exhibits to present at the next election rather than enact laws that are thoroughly proofed.
