THE day his son Shane died is one that Eurovision winner Charlie McGettigan will never forget, though he has since learned to live with every parent’s nightmare.

When he heard what had happened in California it brought him back to the moment he and his wife Gorretti got the knock on the door 17 years ago to learn that Shane had died in the US.
