AS IRAQ descends deeper into chaos I often wonder how it looks through the eyes of Anthony Thomas.

The first time we met, Anthony was in a policeman’s uniform moving into the house next to mine in Washington. Two years, later he was in a US army uniform on his way to Iraq.
