I’M SITTING outside a posh cafe in Taksim Square, Istanbul, drinking Turkish tea and eating baklava. I’ve been here for hours. Every now and then I get up and wander around trying not to look like I’m looking.

But next to nothing happens here on weekdays. The protests are scheduled for Saturdays.
