Director Rob Reiner had a deep interest in parenthood — especially in the father-son relationship — which gives a tragic irony to the fact that his son, Nick Reiner, now stands accused of his murder, and that of Michele Singer Reiner.

This interest in parenting shows up across his films. "If you are a creative person, you try to create things that are an extension of yourself," he said.
