It’s the little things, isn’t it? I remember feeling almost giddy when I found my mother’s recipe for cherry and walnut cake tucked into the pages of an old recipe book in a drawer. We had thought it long lost, but there it was; a worn scrap of paper presenting me with the perfect reason to trip off down memory lane.
I took off at a clip, gathering the ingredients, including the first tub of glacé cherries I think I’ve ever bought. (Oh, sickly, synthetic sweetness, how I’ve missed you).
