Spiteful commentary has no place in GAA

As a staunch GAA man I object to Conor McCarthy’s article (Irish Examiner, July 17)

Spiteful commentary has no place in GAA

Rivalry between Cork and Kerry goes back a century or more but I would like to think it was spirited but fair.

My motto was always: Do your talking on the pitch through the skills you learned as a garsún and express yourself in a fair and sporting way.

Reading this article, I felt embarrassed that we in Rebel Cork would stoop so low to enhance our chances of winning. I think it’s time for the GAA hierarchy to look at where our games are going. Is it about winning at all costs?

It’s sickening to watch commentary by’ so called’ experts with their hurtful, spiteful comments about players and referees.

Apologies to our neighbours across the county bounds, such articles do not represent the true Cork GAA follower.
