Pope off the mark with new brand of socialism

The Pope’s new brand of socialism runs like this; if the developed nations with their 1 billion people share their resources with the nations of the third world and their 6-7 billion people, then the whole world’s problems of war, poverty, climate change, crime and immigration will just disappear.

I think this lunacy will just make the whole world poorer and the problems of population will just get worse. Our earth will be no more sustainable for it.

There are so many people alive now that the goal of a world where everyone lives well has become an impossible dream and believing in this, as we are being forced to do, just glosses over the reality that nature’s resources are at an end.

Sure, the one billion in industrialised countries need to change their ways urgently and produce and consume less; but here in Ireland Taoiseach Enda Kenny and his men actually plan the opposite.

Either way, if the 6-7 billion others go on reproducing at their present rate then it’s goodnight to everyone and I believe that even this Pope knows this; but again and again human dogma triumphs reason and sanity.
