We need to get tough on violence in GAA

On Sunday, I settled down to watch the Galway-Mayo football game on The Sunday Game.

We need to get tough on violence in GAA

As the referee threw in the ball, two players were already rolling on the ground, pulling and dragging each other. Many others joined in.

This questionable behaviour continued throughout the game. Players rolling on the ground, punching and elbowing each other.

My six-year-old granddaughter walked in and said “Turn that off, you know I do not like violence.” It is a sad reflection on our national sport, and those involved in administration of same, that children will feel threatened or intimidated and refuse to watch.
