First, we had the Ian Bailey case going on for far too long, because the judge felt (I am not blaming him) that, in line with court procedures, he could not be proactive and rule out matters that were statute-barred.

Then, we had the Denis O’Brien case, in which the judge’s ruling was misinterpreted, but we had to wait for a legal action by RTÉ, and others, before the judge could clarify matters. What would have happened if RTÉ had not taken a legal action?

Then, to cap it all, we had the judge in the Seán Fitzpatrick case dismissing the jury and explaining that the procedures under which the court was operating were out of date.
