Politicans need to stop insulting us with regular talk of recovery

I have great difficulty understanding government politicians’ insistence that we are in “recovery”. “Tough decisions now paying off” they trumpet. What rubbish!

Politicans need to stop insulting us with regular talk of recovery

I am a pensioner, I worked for over 50 years of my life making my contribution to the State in good times and in not so good times.

My reward has been to see the erosion of my way of life, my property rights, water rights and of course my income.

I don’t need economists to know that my community is close to being destroyed.

Many of the young people I would regularly meet in town have gone away to work. They have become visitors. I know people who have only ever see their grandchildren on Skype.

The bars are empty, the post office is just about hanging in there and they closed the bank. The roads are so neglected they have become dangerous and the only schemes to brighten up the place are carried out by hardworking volunteers.

When you only think in terms of economics and you are solely motivated by greed, when money is your God as is the case with this government, you believe that money will fix everything. What rubbish!

What I see is around me is a community in pain, with barely enough strength to carry on because of the damage that successive governments have done to once thriving communities.

Any talk of recovery is just a cover up.
