Materials supplied to rebuild Gaza would be ill-used for Hamas tunnels
How does Ms Lawlor think Hamas built, and will rebuild, tunnels?
Also, Ms. Lawlor says that the blockade has been condemned by the United Nations (UN), amongst others.
I expect little else from an entity that disproportionately focuses on Israel, while electing despotic regimes to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHRC).
The first rule of human rights is to pursue the worst, first. No nation is perfect, but Israel is not the worst.
Finally, in holding letter writer Mr Ó Raghallaigh to account for failing to show a lack of “empathy or sympathy” for the loss of Palestinian lives,
Ms Lawlor didn’t distinguish between combatants and civilians. She simply cited the figure 2,200.
Nor did I read her letter condemning Hamas rockets and the trauma inflicted on Israeli civilians as a result.
If Ms Lawlor wrote one, I would like to read it.
In any event, regardless of one’s political views, it would take a heart of stone not to feel horrified at the loss of civilian life and the trauma suffered by those who live on — and that goes for any war, regardless.
