Ireland could suffer Middle East retaliation

The interconnectedness of conflicts in the Middle East seems beyond comprehension to those who ignore that the root causes are inappropriate Western political and military intervention.

Ireland could suffer Middle East retaliation

Donald Rumsfeld asked the rhetorical question “are we creating more enemies than we are killing?” The answer is ‘Yes’.

Killing people creates far more enemies. The US suffered blowback in 2001, the UK in 2005, and now Canada in 2014. Nothing justifies the savagery of extreme Islamists’ behaviour, but it is important to understand what drives it. Ireland has been behaving recklessly since 2001, by supporting US-led military interventions in the Middle East, without any economic, moral or political justification. Extremist blowback could occur in Ireland, because no precautions are being taken. In addition to US military use of Shannon airport, Ireland still has soldiers serving with NATO in Afghanistan.
