Online security - There are no guarantees

The cold reality of our connected world is that by the time a government, an institution or even the most advanced legitimate users of the internet have identified a threat to the security of personal data, those who wish to look over our shoulder to take advantage — or simply steal — have moved on and are preparing the next generation of online Trojan horses.

It would be reassuring to belive that watertight, online security is available to mass users of the internet, users dependent on widely used servers or systems, but it probably is not.

The reality is that, even in this connected age, caution and sharpened instincts are as important as ever in personal, online security.
