Good pub news is food for thought

In these depressing times, good news is as scarce as hen’s teeth.

So, hats off to 27 pubs in the Republic, listed in the prestigious Michelin ‘Eating Out In Pubs’ Guide for 2014.

This is particularly welcome news because pubs in more remote parts of the country are closing for lack of customers. Regrettably, the drink-driving laws deter many a bachelor farmer from driving to the local for a pint — largely out of fear he might have a quart.
