Who pays for high priority server problem?

I read in your business section (Irish Examiner, Oct 10) how the Central Bank lost communication to a high priority server.

Who pays for high priority server problem?

This server stores critical financial data about our country’s finances and to make matters worse this server is managed off-site by a third party company.

What interested me was the response by the finance minister. No inquiry is being held into why or what happened. If this were to happen in the private sector a remediation plan would be put in place. Most companies would also be in breach of SOX compliance. Being in breach of this is not something to take lightly. It can protect a company’s financial position. Maybe we could protect our country’s financial position by implementing SOX.
