No sequel for fading double act of Gilmore and Burton
In the film, a psychological thriller, wheelchair-bound Joan Crawford is held prisoner by her seething sister, Bette Davis, who resents her for having stolen the limelight as a child star.
Joan Burton would surely want the saintly role of her namesake, Joan Crawford, but Eamon Gilmore supporters would, no doubt, cast her in the cloak of Davis — unhappy at being overtaken in the pecking order by the Tánaiste, and demoted as the party’s finance supremo, to boot.
