Jose’s eggs are all in the Chelsea basket

Jose Mourinho is back in the headlines for accepting the Chelsea job, a not-so secret ‘secret’.

Jose’s eggs are all in the Chelsea basket

With everyone not-so-surprised at the surprise, the question is ‘why, Jose, would you go back?’ He is bat crazy.

Why return to a job in which you were being told what to do, every two seconds, by your boss, whose also telling you to do it the wrong way?

I have respect for Roman Abramovich. The Russian business tycoon is the main owner of the private investment company, Millhouse LLC, and he is known outside Russia as the owner of Chelsea. He is worth $14.6bn. He is the fifth richest person in Russia and the 50th richest person in the world, according to the 2012 Forbes list.

Why are we all anti-Abramovich? His involvement with Chelsea has distorted the football transfer market in Europe, his wealth allowing the club to purchase players at will, although that has changed.

He’s accused by Chelsea fans of ‘sticking his nose in’. He tries to select the teams, he frustrates managers, and then they get sacked, or, like Mourinho, they walk. Outside of soccer, Abramovich has been accused of theft, bribery, blackmail, and fraud.

How many P45s has Abramovich signed since 2008? On Jun 11, 2008, Luiz Felipe Scolari, who managed Brazil to World Cup glory in 2002, was named Chelsea manager. He was sacked on Feb 9, 2009. Guus Hiddink was appointed caretaker manager, delivering Chelsea’s first post-Mourinho trophy, the FA Cup. Hiddink was replaced by Carlo Ancelotti. In May, 2010, Ancelotti won Chelsea their first league and FA Cup ‘double’ in his first season. Ancelotti was sacked at the end of his second season, in May 2011.

André Villas-Boas, having worked alongside Mourinho at Stamford Bridge, was appointed as Abramovich’s seventh Chelsea manager on Jun 22, 2011. He was sacked on Mar 4. Caretaker Roberto Di Matteo won Chelsea the UEFA Champions League and the FA Cup. Appointed full-time, he was sacked on Nov 21, 2012. Former Liverpool boss, Rafael Benitez, was appointed for the remainder of the club’s campaign.

Since Abramovich has taken charge of Chelsea, he’s had more managers than Manchester United have had since 1937.

Mourinho goes back. Why? Well, in Jose’s words “The style of how we play is very important. But it is omelettes and eggs. No eggs — no omelettes. It depends on the quality of the eggs.”
