Bank salaries - Oppose BoI pay deal

One of the votes at tomorrow’s Bank of Ireland AGM will focus on the pay of chief executive Ritchie Boucher.

Bank salaries - Oppose BoI pay deal

The bank made a pre tax loss of €2.2bn last year yet Mr Boucher was paid €843,000, close enough double the State’s declared €500,000 salary cap.

The Government owns 15% of the bank but Finance Minister Michael Noonan will abstain on any vote regarding bank executive salaries. Why?

One of the most corrosive things about Ireland today is that many of those who drove this country over the cliff enjoy lifestyles that do not reflect our crisis.

Mr Noonan should oppose any package that breaks the Government’s ceiling. He would be doing the right thing, have huge support and show, as we are so often assured, that “we are all in this together”.
