More eagles poisoned - Birds need protection

The reintroduction of a species once common can cause controversy, but the return of white-tailed sea eagles to Irish skies was almost universally welcomed.

It is disappointing so that two more eagles have been found dead, at least one of which was poisoned. To date 26 of the reintroduced birds have died, 12 from illegal poisoning. This is more than unfortunate and only happens because individuals choose to ignore the law. This is unacceptable, especially as we will probably have to reintroduce more and more species — if we can — as humanity’s impact on wildlife habitat becomes more and more destructive.
