Following your call to wear the poppy with pride, can I expect you to call on your readers to wear burnt corks in their hats to commemorate the heroics of the crown forces in Cork in Dec 1920?

Would you endorse the nullification of election victories by the burning down of the voters’ houses? If you examine the record you’ll find that Major Bernard Montgomery said he didn’t care how many houses he had to burn to defeat Sinn Féin, who’d won all parliamentary seats but one in Munster, and most local government seats shortly before.
