Clifford should take a break from politics

Michael Clifford is nothing if not fervently candid (Opinion, Sept 8): “Clare Daly used to haunt my dreams.”

Holding forth about his personally challenging night-time vicissitudes, by sharing his nuanced nightmares with the nation, he displays a formidable fortitude far beyond the call of journalistic duty.

One wonders what Carl Jung might make of such stark symbolism and metaphorical framing — “Where was Mick Wallace when my dreams needed someone to do some softening up on my behalf?”, Clifford further unfurls his ‘addictive’ immersion in Dáil political intrigue.

Perhaps he should consider taking a bit of a break from Dáil matters to concentrate on more ‘social-communal-ethical’ issues, which he typically covers with such empathic aplomb.
