A voice note arrived from a friend this week, alerting me to the fact that it’s Self-Care September. She very thoughtfully suggested I do one thing in the coming days ‘just for me’.

Self-Care September. It sounds catchy, doesn’t it? Soothing. But can you imagine someone in genuine distress hearing it? What good is self-care when you are clinically depressed, in the throes of grief or have just received a cancer diagnosis?
